- New York, NY
A soulful vocalist and innovative multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter and producer Rachael Sage is one of the busiest touring artists in independent music, performing 100+ dates a year both solo and with her band The Sequins throughout the US, UK, & Europe. She has earned a loyal following for her dynamic piano playing, delicate guitar work, soulful vocals, and improvisational audience interaction.
Sage has shared stages with Sarah McLachlan, Beth Hart, Judy Collins, Shawn Colvin, Marc Cohn, Jamie Cullum, The Animals and Ani DiFranco. She has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and received numerous songwriting awards including The John Lennon Songwriting Contest (Grand Prize) and several Independent Music Awards. Her songs have appeared on MTV, HBO, the Fame soundtrack, and had over 20 placements on Lifetime’s controversial reality series, Dance Moms.
Sage herself is a former dancer who studied at the School of American Ballet in her teens, and she has been thrilled to see her music widely embraced by the lyrical dance community over the past several years (videos featuring young girls dancing to her music have received over 9 million hits on YouTube). Her 2016 album Choreographic delivers a musically ambitious and emotionally accessible tribute to dance, her very first love. She “envisioned each song as a fully-choreographed multi-media experience”; the result is an inspired set of piano-based chamber-pop merging orchestral elements with her signature blend of folk, pop and rock. The album was co-produced by Sage and Grammy-winning producer Andy Zulla (Idina Menzel, Rod Stewart).

NYC PRIDE MONTH Benefit Concert - Rachael Sage @The Bitter End 6/5
New York, NY: Five-time OUTmusic Award winner and LGBTQ favorite Rachael Sage will perform at The Bitter End on June 5. Sponsored by The New York Songwriter's Circle, the show is the first annual "Pride Month Benefit Concert" with proceeds from all tickets sales donated to The Center and The Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund.
The NYC-based singer, songwriter and producer returns from the UK after playing sold-out shows with synth music pioneer Howard Jones. Earlier this Spring she performed a dozen dates with blues powerhouse Beth Hart, including her debut at NYC's legendary Town Hall.
Sage will also be celebrating the release of her new EP, The Tide, which will be available both at the performance and digitally via iTunes. The 5-track collection of protest songs adds her voice to the current worldwide protests and demonstrations while addressing topical subject matter related to the Orlando shooting, Elie Wiesel’s passing, the Syrian refugee crisis and the controversial 2016 US Presidential election.
Currently, Sage is also touring in support of her 2016 full-length album, Choreographic. The release is a musically ambitious and emotionally accessible tribute to her very first love: dance. Sage, who studied at The School of American Ballet in her teens, has been reaching an ever-growing audience via Lifetime TV's #1 reality series Dance Moms. The show has featured a record-breaking 20 of her songs over the past four seasons - including many used by teen celebrity star Maddie Ziegler (of Sia fame).
Known for her impressive musicianship, colorful stage banter and for personally connecting with her audiences, Sage has steadily built a large and loyal grassroots fan base with a rigorous international tour schedule, prompting Performing Songwriter Magazine to name her "One of the Top 100 Independent Artists Of The Past 15 Years."
Rachael is available for in-person, phone and email interviews. Any press considerations are much appreciated. If you wish to attend the show, or request a copy of The Tide or Choreographic for review, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org
