About

Since founding her own label MPress Records two decades ago, NYC-based alt-pop artist Rachael Sage has steadily released a slew of vibrant, dynamic albums with poetic lyrics spanning subjects as wide as her inspirations. She has toured with an eclectic list of artists including Ani DiFranco, Beth Hart, Sarah McLachlan, Judy Collins and Howard Jones. Sage also continues to significantly grow her visibility via her many song placements, including 22 songs on top reality show Dance Moms, translating into over 10 million YouTube hits. Her newest offering, PseudoMyopia, is a companion acoustic album to Sage’s critically acclaimed release, Myopia. Exploring the concept of vision in all its many manifestations, she touches upon topics as varied as government surveillance, environmental protection, and female empowerment. Produced by Sage and Grammy® winner Andy Zulla, the album features guest musicians Ben Butler (Sting), bassist Richard Hammond (Joan Osborne), and cellist Ward Williams (Sara Bareilles). Sage is currently touring the US and UK in collaboration with the charity Vision Aid Overseas, which helps provide optical aid and services to developing countries in Africa.

Refugee Benefit & EP Release Party @ The Jalopy Theater

New York, NY: Four-time Independent Music Award-winner and multi-instrumentalist Rachael Sage will perform at The Jalopy on May 20 with her band, The Sequins. The show will be a release party for her new EP, The Tide. All proceeds from the EP's sales will be donated to the world's leading global refugee charity, ArcLife.org (American Refugee Committee). For this show only, all ticket holders will receive a free copy of The Tide. Gabrielle Louise performs afterward.

The NYC-based singer, songwriter and producer returns from the UK after playing sold-out shows with synth music pioneer Howard Jones in addition to having been tapped for a dozen dates in March with blues powerhouse Beth Hart for her "Fire On The Floor" tour.

Sage will be celebrating the release of her new EP of protest songs, The Tide, which will be available both at the performance and digitally via iTunes. The 5-track collection adds her voice to the current worldwide protests and demonstrations while addressing topical subject matter related to the Orlando shooting, Elie Wiesel’s passing, the Syrian refugee crisis and the controversial 2016 US Presidential election. The Sequins, Sage's long time band, will perform with her and includes such stellar members as Ward Williams (Sara Bareilles), violinist Kelly Halloran (Tom Morello), and drummer Andy Mac (Deni Bonet).

Currently, Sage is also touring in support of her 2016 full-length album, Choreographic. The release is a musically ambitious and emotionally accessible tribute to her very first love: dance. Sage, who studied at The School of American Ballet in her teens, has been reaching an ever-growing audience via Lifetime TV's #1 reality series Dance Moms. The show has featured a record-breaking 20 of her songs over the past four seasons - including many used by celebrity star Maddie Ziegler (of Sia fame).

Known for her impressive musicianship, colorful stage banter and for personally connecting with her audiences, Sage has steadily built a large and loyal grassroots fan base with a rigorous international tour schedule, prompting Performing Songwriter Magazine to name her "One of the Top 100 Independent Artists Of The Past 15 Years.

Rachael is available for in-person, phone and email interviews. Any press considerations are much appreciated. If you wish to attend the show, or request a copy of The Tide or Choreographic for review, please email: press@mpressrecords.com
